So, What's The Difference?

Foreword
When writing (or reading) about other faiths, you face the problem of going to one of two extremes:
1. Criticizing and tearing down other faiths because you are secretly afraid that "maybe they're right after all." 2. Bogging down in syrupy condescension where you ignore crucial differences in an effort to "be fair."

So, at the start, the members of our editorial team (those who did the extensive research and writing on this book) set up four ground rules to help steer a middle course. These Ground Rules-which are equally useful to readers-include:
1. A study of other faiths is not to be done in a spirit of criticism or ill will, however...
2. A study of other faiths is bound to bring up differences and disagreements. To disagree with someone is not necessarily equal to criticizing him or tearing him down.
3. See what you can learn from other faiths. This book that I write you today under the control of the Holy Spirit. It is written from the orthodox Christian viewpoint. Its started aim is to examine the real and basic differences between orthodox Christianity and some of the major religions and cults of the world. But while axamining the differences, it is also possible to apply certain traits and characteristics in other faiths to the Christian life. Hindus and Buddhists for example, have "far out" ideas on the nature of God, but they may have much to teach many Christians about why their daily "rat race" is keeping them from the peace of God that comes through completely trusting in Christ.

Therefore are many other things a Christian can learn from other faiths, not to remake his theology, but to help him examine himself to see just how deeply his own theology affects what he actually does and says and thinks.

And that brings up Ground Rule No. 4: To compare orthodox Christianity with other faiths in order to help Christians better understand their own beliefs. The teachings of orthodox Christianity set it apart from all other faiths. Orthodox Christianity-the faith you find recorded in the pages of the New Testament-is unique because Christ is unique, His woek was unique and the Scriptures that record that woek are unique. We hope this acticle helps you see more clearly the answer to the question that most people have about other faiths: "So, what's the difference?"

Well freinds, my time runout. Please come back tomorrow as we continue with the introduction.

God bless you! Obeto & Kian Lombaye (pastor)
